CurricuLLM is designed to be usable by all students, including those with disabilities or specific access needs. This section covers the accessibility features available in the platform, how to enable and use them, and guidance for teachers supporting students with access requirements.
Platform accessibility
CurricuLLM runs in a standard web browser and is built to work with common assistive technologies:
- Screen readers — the chat interface is compatible with screen readers including NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver. Semantic HTML and ARIA landmarks help screen reader users navigate the interface.
- Keyboard navigation — all core functionality is accessible via keyboard. Users can navigate between conversations, type messages, and access controls without a mouse.
- Zoom and text scaling — the interface responds to browser-level zoom and operating system text scaling settings. Content reflows for readability at higher zoom levels.
- Voice input — students who have difficulty typing can use the built-in voice input feature to dictate messages.
- Text-to-speech — AI responses can be read aloud using the platform's text-to-speech feature, supporting students who benefit from audio.
Adaptive learning
CurricuLLM's personalised tutoring adapts to each student's demonstrated understanding, which benefits students with learning differences:
- The AI adjusts the complexity and pacing of explanations based on the student's responses
- Students can work at their own pace without time pressure
- The Socratic approach means students are supported through difficulties rather than penalised for wrong answers
- Learning check-ins help the AI calibrate its starting point for each student
For teachers
When supporting students with specific access needs:
- Content filters can be adjusted by administrators to suit individual or class-level requirements
- Encourage students to use the accessibility features that work best for them (voice input, text-to-speech, zoom)
- The self-paced nature of the chat interface means CurricuLLM can be particularly valuable for students who need more time or prefer to work independently
- If a student's access needs are not being met by the current platform capabilities, contact us at hello@curricullm.com — we want to know about gaps so we can prioritise them
Ongoing improvement
We are committed to improving accessibility over time. Feedback from teachers and students about access barriers directly informs our development priorities. If you encounter an accessibility issue, please report it to hello@curricullm.com.
