16.1.5 Stars, Streaks & Constellations: Earning Badges

The three kinds of achievement that unlock badges, plus streaks and the full badge collection.

Three kinds of achievement feed a badge collection of around 53 badges. Badges unlock automatically the moment their criteria are met, and the app shows a "Badge Unlocked!" celebration.

The three main badge families

  • Star milestone badges — for total stars earned. Examples: First Light (your first star), Hat Trick (3 stars), Centurion (100 stars), and higher milestones.
  • Constellation completion badges — for completing whole constellations. Examples: Stargazer (your first complete constellation), Trailblazer (5), and a Stage Scholar for completing all constellations in a stage.
  • Streak badges — for day streaks. A streak is the number of consecutive calendar days on which you earned at least one star. Examples: On a Roll (3 days), Streak Star (7 days), up to Season Streak (90 days).

Streaks at a glance

  • Your current streak shows as a flame icon with a day count in the Galaxy rail and on the Galaxy pill.
  • Keep the streak alive by earning at least one star each day.

Other badges

  • Daily habit — Daily Devotion for earning all 4 stars in a single day.
  • Subject breadth — for exploring multiple subjects.
  • New Explorer — an onboarding badge.

How curriculum vs onboarding stars count

  • Only curriculum stars count toward star and constellation badge milestones.
  • Onboarding tutorial stars (from First Mission) count toward your lifetime totals and streaks, but not toward the daily cap or the curriculum badge milestones.

Viewing your badges

  • Open the Badges panel in Galaxy.
  • Earned badges show spinning medal artwork; locked badges show a progress bar so you can see how close you are.

Why it helps

Badges reward every kind of progress — a single star, a whole topic, and showing up day after day. They turn steady effort into something you can see and be proud of.
