3.13 Editing Your Previous Message

How to edit your most recent message and get a fresh AI response without starting over.

Think of this as a "redo your last turn" feature. You can edit your most recent message — only the latest one, not arbitrary older messages — and get a new answer without starting over.

Fix or rephrase your last question and get a new answer, without starting again.

How it works

  • Click the pencil (Edit message) icon on your last message.
  • It becomes an editable text box with Cancel and Send.
  • On Send, the previous version of that message and the AI's reply to it are hidden (not deleted), and the AI generates a fresh response to your revised message in the same conversation.

When it's available

  • Only on the most recent message.
  • Only when it's plain text — no file or image attachments, and no student / class @mentions.
  • Only in a saved conversation.

If the edit option isn't offered, one of those conditions isn't met.

Where it works

  • Available in Chat (not Studio).

Why it helps

Sometimes you realise your question could have been clearer, or you want to tweak it slightly. Editing your last message lets you refine and try again in place, instead of retyping and starting a new conversation.
