7.1 Managing Teacher, Student, and Administrator Accounts

How to add and manage users in CurricuLLM.

Administrators can add and manage users in CurricuLLM to make sure everyone has the right licence, role, and access. When AI for schools is set up properly, account management becomes straightforward and efficient.

What you can do in the Users screen

  • See all users at a glance
    • The sidebar lists all users with their name, email, licence type (e.g. Student, Admin), and avatar.
    • Users provisioned through SIS integration are tagged with a LISS badge, making it easy to see which accounts are managed automatically.
    • Use the Search users bar at the top to quickly find a specific user.
  • Licence counts
    • The top bar shows a breakdown of your licence usage: Admin, Staff, and Student counts displayed as used / available (e.g. "Admin: 6 / 0, Staff: 11 / 0, Student: 28 / 0").
    • Click Manage Subscription to adjust your licence allocation.
  • Add new users
    • Click the + Add User button.
    • Enter the email address and assign a licence.
    • The new user will receive an email invitation to join.
  • View and edit user details
    • Select a user from the sidebar to view their profile, including name, email, and LISS status.
    • Licence — Change the user's licence type (e.g. Student, Staff, Admin, Unlicensed). Licences available depend on how many your school has purchased.
    • Role — Assign a role to control content filters, feature access, and AI tool availability (e.g. "Full filtering"). See the Roles section for more details.
    • Note: the account you're logged into cannot change its own role (for safety).
  • Set curriculum stage
    • For student accounts, you can set a Stage under the Curriculum section (e.g. "Year 5").
    • This ensures CurricuLLM tailors content to the appropriate learning level.
    • Admin and Staff accounts do not have stages.

LISS-managed users

If your school has SIS integration enabled, users provisioned through the LISS protocol will display a LISS badge next to their name in both the user list and their profile. These accounts are automatically created and kept in sync with your Student Information System. You can still manually adjust their licence, role, and curriculum stage as needed.

Tips for administrators

  • Always check the licence counts at the top of the screen before adding new users.
  • Move unused accounts to "Unlicensed" so the licence can be reassigned.
  • Use the search bar to quickly locate users in larger schools.
  • Remember that roles and filters (explained in the next sections) control what content users can access and which features are available.

What this means for schools

Managing users in this way ensures each teacher, student, and administrator has the right access, while licences are used efficiently across the school. With SIS integration, much of this management happens automatically.
