16.2.2 Galaxy Analytics

Monitoring student engagement and progress across your class or cohort with the Galaxy Analytics page.

Galaxy Analytics is a staff reporting page for monitoring student engagement and progress across a class or cohort. It shows you a chart of your students, so you can see how individuals are progressing at a glance.

Where to find it

  • Go to the Analytics area → Galaxy (/analytics/galaxy).
  • Requires analytics access and a Staff or Admin license.

Summary cards (for the filtered group)

  • Number of students.
  • Total stars earned.
  • Total badges earned.
  • How many students have an active streak.

Filters

  • School (for multi-school admins).
  • Date range — All time, This school week, Last school week, Last 7 days, Last 30 days.
  • Subject.
  • Year group.
  • Class (or whole school).

The per-student table

Sortable, and sorted by stars descending by default. Columns:

  • Student name + picture.
  • Year group.
  • Stars earned (in the selected range).
  • Badges earned.
  • Constellations completed.
  • Current streak and longest streak.

Using it well

  • Use the filters to spot students who are highly engaged, who have lapsed streaks, or who haven't started.
  • Read "stars in range" as recent activity for your chosen date range, and "longest streak" as their best-ever run of consecutive days.
  • Treat this as a motivation and engagement lens that complements — rather than replaces — your other assessment data.

Linking Galaxy to real-world reinforcement

Self-directed learning in CurricuLLM works best in schools that link CurricuLLM achievement to something in the real world — for instance awards, house points, or public encouragement. It's highly recommended to use this page to implement some kind of reinforcement, so that the effort students put into Galaxy is recognised beyond the app.

Why it helps

Galaxy Analytics gives you a quick read on who's engaged and who might need a nudge, and a clear basis for rewarding and reinforcing the self-directed learning your students are doing.
