Getting Started with CurricuLLM

A guide for students

What is CurricuLLM?

CurricuLLM is an AI learning tool that your school uses to help you learn. You can chat with it about the things you're studying in class, and it will help you understand them better. It knows what you're learning at your year level and it's designed to work with you, not just give you answers.

How does it work?

You type a message and CurricuLLM responds. It's like having a conversation. But there's something important to know: it's not going to just give you the answer. Instead, it's going to help you think through the problem yourself.

That might feel different from other AI tools you've tried. If you ask it "what's the answer?" it will probably ask you a question back. That's on purpose — it's helping you learn, not doing the work for you.

How to log in

Go to app.curricullm.com and log in with your school email address. You'll go straight into chat mode where you can start a conversation.

How to get the most out of it

Write in full sentences
Instead of typing one word, explain what you're thinking. "I think it's evaporation because the water gets hot" is much better than just "evaporation."
Don't be afraid to be wrong
Getting things wrong is part of learning. CurricuLLM won't judge you. If you give a wrong answer, it will help you figure out where you went wrong.
Ask questions back
If you don't understand something, ask it to explain. You can say "I don't get that" or "Can you explain it a different way?"
Keep the conversation going
Don't stop after one message. The best learning happens when you go back and forth a few times. Try to have at least five or six exchanges.

What's a learning check-in?

The first time you ask about a new subject, CurricuLLM might ask you a few quick questions before you start chatting. This is called a learning check-in. It's not a test! It's just so CurricuLLM can learn what you already know, so it can help you better. You can skip it if you want, but doing it helps CurricuLLM give you the right kind of help.

What if…

"It won't give me the answer!"

That's how it's supposed to work. It's helping you figure it out yourself. Keep going with the conversation — you'll get there.

"I'm stuck and don't know what to type"

Just tell it that! Type "I'm stuck" or "I don't know where to start." CurricuLLM will give you a hint or break the question into smaller steps.

"I think it said something wrong"

That's possible — no AI is perfect. If something doesn't seem right, tell your teacher. You can also click the thumbs down button on the message to let the CurricuLLM team know. Questioning what AI tells you is a really important skill.

"Something isn't working"

Let your teacher know. They can help you or get in touch with the CurricuLLM team to sort it out.

Saving your conversation

If your teacher asks you to save your conversation, click the three dots at the top of the chat and choose Export CSV. It saves a file to your computer that you can hand in.

Using CurricuLLM well

It helps you think — it doesn't think for you
CurricuLLM is designed to guide you, not do the work. If you find yourself just copying what it says without understanding it, slow down and try explaining it back in your own words.
It's a tool, not a person
CurricuLLM might feel like chatting with someone, but it's not a real person. It doesn't have feelings and it doesn't know you outside of your conversations. It's a learning tool — a really useful one — but your teachers, friends, and family are the people in your life.
Know when to step away
If you've been using CurricuLLM for a while and you're feeling stuck, frustrated, or just tired, that's a good time to take a break. Talk to your teacher, ask a classmate, or come back to it later with fresh eyes.

How to raise a concern

If something about CurricuLLM worries you — whether it's something it said, something that didn't feel right, or anything else — talk to your teacher. That's the best way to get help. You can also use the thumbs down button on any message to flag it, but your teacher is always the right person to talk to about anything important.

Remember: CurricuLLM is here to help you learn, not to do your work for you. The more effort you put into your conversations, the more you'll get out of it. Think of it like a really patient tutor who always has time for your questions.

You can use it in class and at home whenever you need help with what you're learning.
